LSTC-ED (LINEAR SHOCKWAVE TISSUE COVERAGE) FOR THE TREATMENT OF ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION

The use of point-focused (Fig. 1/4) and lateral linear focused (Fig. 2/5) shockwaves has achieved good results in the treatment of vascular erectile dysfunction (ED). After examining the existing evidence, low-energy focused shockwave therapy was classified as a first-line treatment in the EAU guidelines. A more comprehensive roll-out of this procedure was impossible because of the non-uniform, time-consuming administration of shockwave energy to the corpora cavernosa.

The breakthrough came after the piezo shockwave technology was developed and a therapy source was created with a linear focused shockwave capable of treating larger areas. The combination of the therapy source with the new LSTC-ED therapy concept (syn. volume ESWT-ED) improved the administration technique and therapy outcomes.

For the first time, linear focused shockwaves and the practical piezo therapy source made it possible to treat the entire corpus cavernosum quickly and comprehensively (Fig. 3/6). During treatment, the therapy source is applied at right angles to the corpora cavernosa and then moved lengthwise along the penis (corpora cavernosa) and the perineum (crura penis). This guarantees a maximum uniform energy output. Treatment is completed within just a few minutes. The procedure is referred to as LSTC-ED (linear shockwave tissue coverage – erectile dysfunction).

We took the utmost care to research this procedure and prepare it for clinical approval. It was important for us to provide serious scientific evidence and study data. A prospective, multicenter placebo-controlled study (*) with 75 patients showed a significant improvement in IIEF-5 scores, with successful outcomes reported for 81% of patients after one month of treatment. An improvement in function was found even at 6 months after treatment, proving the long-term beneficial effect of LSTC-ED treatment.

MECHANISMS OF ACTION AND EFFECTS OF ESWT DESCRIBED IN THE LITERATURE WHICH ARE EFFECTIVE TO TREAT ED:

        • Induces neovascularization
        • Induces release of growth factors such as TGF-ß1, VEGF
        • Stimulates local blood flow

Treatment

Treatment is carried out on an outpatient basis without anesthesia. It is painless and only takes a few minutes.
The therapy head is positioned above the cavernous bodies and moved longitudinally along the penis.
Treatment should be administered once or twice a week; a full course of treatment is 4-6 sessions. There are no known side effects.

The Mechanism of Action!

Mechanical stimuli can influence many of the cellular functions of living tissue. Extracorporeal shockwaves – an established treatment in modern medicine for more than 30 years – function as mechanical stressors which trigger biochemical changes in living tissue.

ED-specific Effect:

  • Angiogenesis (vascularization)
  • Improved microcirculation
  • Relaxation of muscles

LSTC-ED®

A unique therapy concept
Treatment of erectile dysfunction using linear focused piezo shockwaves.

The LSTC-ED technique is a quick and comprehensive treatment covering the entire cavernous bodies. The therapy source is placed at right angles to the cavernous bodies and moved longitudinally along the penis (the cavernous bodies) and the perineum (crura of the penis). This results in maximum, homogeneous transfer of energy; treatment is quick and lasts only a few minutes.
